Why do we need to know?

I've kinda been sitting on this topic all last week. I wasn't in a good mood as you can tell from my tweets. Well what brought me finally getting to this is that Anderson Cooper recently came out. Honestly it doesn't change my opinion of him. I didn't watch his show before and I won't start now just because he officially plays for the gay team. Below the article of him coming out was a gallery of other celebs that came out. Thus begging the question why does it matter? Why does the media spend so much time and effort trying to find out who's sleeping with who? If it's not happening to me or a friend why should I care. The same can be said about porn. Shortly after Erik Rhode's death, it came out that he was HIV positive thus begging the question should we as an audience know the status. Honestly no it's not of our business. Unless you are sleeping with the person or you are the studio they are shooting for you don't need to know. Porn is all about the eye candy basically. If they can do their job of getting you off then that's all that matters. When did we as a culture get so nosy. When did everyone else's business become our own?
